Why I telecommute and how you benefit

by Jean Tantra, Senior Software Engineer

With over 15 years doing contract programming experience, I have learned to be exceptionally productive. How?

  • I have good communication skills that minimize misunderstandings and wasted time, and maximize time-on-task.
  • I constantly hone my programming skills and keep them up to date.
  • I maintain a large library of known working code that can often reduce the project timeline by 20% and save thousands of dollars.
  • I telecommute.

How does my telecommuting benefit you?

You get an additional 1 to 3 hours per day of my peak programming hours — time I would otherwise waste in travel and other non-productive activities.

I work faster because my office is optimized for high production. I have 4 large screens, 3 Macs running multiple versions of Mac OS X, double trackballs, special software and shortcuts on all machines, and a giant library of known working code. This is not the sort of setup that an ordinary office can duplicate. By working with me remotely, you get all the advantages with none of the cost.

Working remotely encourages clear communication. You’ll get your project done better and faster.
